Example

Example: target 207 with 50, 4, 7, 2, 3 and 9.

How to play SpotOn

  1. Every day, five targets, each harder than the last. Each target has its own six numbers.
  2. Tap a tile, an operation (+ − × ÷), then another tile: the two tiles become one, the result.
  3. Each number is used once. Results stay whole and positive: no fractions.
  4. A tile equal to the target is spot on: a star. Otherwise « Submit closest »: within 2% earns a half star.
  5. After each target you submit, you see one exact solution.
  6. Stuck? « Hint » shows the first step of a solution. A target hit with the hint is worth half a star.

Questions

How do I play a numbers game online?
Open SpotOn on your phone or computer: today's grid is the same for everyone, no account or download.
Is it always possible?
Yes. Every target has at least one exact solution, checked by a solver before it goes out.
Does the clock stop if I leave the page?
No. The server times each target from when it opens to when you submit; time never changes your grade.
What does « close » mean?
Within 2% of the target (at least 1). The screen says it in numbers: « close: within 7 ».
